Abstract:
The sclerosant hydroxypolyethoxydodecan (HDP) was studied in rats, and the results were compared with those from a previous study of tetradecyl sulphate of sodium (TSS). There appeared to be no significante difference between the two. The sclerosant efficiency increase with increasing concentration up to 6%, but a higher concentration that 6% in un-likely to be more effectivein the rat or in man. In man, good results probably depend on exposure on the edothelium to sclerosant undiluted with blood for 1 s, and the total volume of 6% HPD or 6% TSS at one visit should no exceed 10ml.
