Mr Lewis is one of a small number of full-time varicose vein practitioners in the UK and Ireland and the only one working in Northern Ireland. He was appointed as a consultant vascular surgeon in 2007 and in the subsequent few years helped oversee the introduction of keyhole varicose vein treatments in the Southern, Western and Northern Trusts. He played a central role in the development of Northern Ireland’s Regional Varicose Vein Treatment centres in 2017. He continues to work with the regional service in the NHS on a part time basis where he delivers over 250 keyhole varicose vein procedures and a similar number of outpatient consultations per year.

Additionally, he has a large private practice in both the North and South of Ireland. He sees and treats around 500 private patients per year with a broad mix of cosmetic and more troublesome veins. He is happy to offer consultations and treatment for veins on all parts of the body.

He is recognised nationally as an authority in the management of venous disease and has been invited to speak on the expert management of varicose veins at both the Royal Society of Medicine’s Venous Forum and at the British Association of Sclerotherapists.

Mr Philip Coleridge Smith, Consultant Vascular Surgeon

Philip Coleridge Smith is a reader in Surgery and Consultant Vascular Surgeon at UCL Medical School , London. He has international clinical and research reputation in the imaging, investigation and treatment of venous disease.

Mr Coleridge Smith is a member of the Venous Forum of the Royal Society of Medicine and the President of the British Association of Sclerotherapists. He is Associate Editor (Venous Section) of the European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and is one of UK ‘s leading experts on ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy.
