Resistant thread veins
Thread veins can sometimes be difficult to remove. Patients may report that they have received sclerotherapy in other clinics with little or no effect.
In most people, sclerotherapy is very effective at treating this type of vein, but a small proportion of people have only a limited response. Most frequently the problem is due to underlying veins which have not been injected previously. The solution to the problem is to use ultrasound guided injection of the blue reticular veins that lie beneath the thread veins. The blue veins keep the thread veins alive! We have developed this treatment over a number of years and find that in almost all patients that an excellent outcome can be obtained. In some people this requires more sessions of treatment than we would usually expect, but good progress can still be achieved.
